Smithson’s Lead Down to One Entering Michigan Open’s Final Round

TRAVERSE CITY — Following two rounds where he recorded a combined 11-under, Grand Rapids’ Bradley Smithson had an up-and-down third round to sit at 12-under overall, allowing other golfers to make a run up the leaderboard.

Ann Arbor’s Patrick Wilkes-Krier had a big round alongside Smithson, including a front nine where he had one eagle and two birdies. He finished his day just one back of Smithson on the leaderboard.

Tyler Copp, another golfer from Ann Arbor, put together a solid finish with a pair of birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to move to 10-under, just two back of Smithson.

The rest of the leaderboard is loaded with golfers who could make a run in Thursday’s final round, with multiple golfers recording a 67 on Wednesday.

Grant Haefner is close behind the leaders at 8-under. Reigning champion Brett White now sits at 6-under and in fifth place.
