Traverse City’s Scott Returns Home to Compete in Michigan Open

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City West alum Alex Scott will return to his hometown to compete in next week’s Michigan Open from Monday to Thursday at Grand Traverse Resort.

This will be his fifth time competing in the tournament, with his best performance coming last year. Scott started the tournament 2-over during the first two rounds, but turned it around with a 65 in the third round to boost him up the leaderboard.

He finished the tournament at 7-under, which was the second best tournament behind Brett White’s 12-under.

Both Scott and White are back in this year’s tournament, and Scott hopes it will be a great competition and he can get off to a strong start this year.

“Everybody can always nitpick their rounds and go back, but you’re never going to play perfect golf,” Scott said. “I hope to get a chance at him again. Hopefully he plays well and I play well. Hopefully I can flip the script or whoever else is going to be at the top. I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be nice to play at home.”

Scott has been golfing on the Latin American Tour during the last two years.
