Boyne City, Charlevoix Form New Co-Op Ski Team

BOYNE CITY/CHARLEVOIX — Boyne City and Charlevoix recently announced they will be joining forces on the slopes this season by forming a co-op ski team.

The new team will be called the “Lake Charlevoix Ski Team” and will feature girls and boys from both schools.

After both programs had low participation numbers the last few years, the athletic directors decided it would be best to form a joint program.

“It really gives that opportunity to field full and complete teams and compete at the regional level as well because I feel like both of our schools have some strong individual skiers,” said Boyne City Athletic Director Adam Stefanski. “And we can really try to build this thing up into a strong program.”

“I’m excited. It’s always been a great rivalry and now we’re bringing that rivalry together to make one competitive team,” said Charlevoix Athletic Director Travis Garret.

The new Lake Charlevoix Ski Team is expected to compete in Div. 2 this year.
