Pit Spitters’ Monroe, Proctor Transferring to Central Michigan
TRAVERSE CITY — Pit Spitters first baseman and designated hitter Chris Monroe and catcher Adam Proctor are transferring to Central Michigan for the 2022 season.
Monroe departs from the University of Illinois Springfield, where he was a standout power-hitter in his first three seasons. In his third year with Traverse City, he currently leads the team in hits, runs batted in and home runs.
Monroe said he hopes to contribute some power to the Chippewas’ offense next year.
“I think that they’re a really competitive program just like the one I came from in Division 2, so it shouldn’t really be that much of a difference. They told me is they struggle with power, so I should be able to help with that a little bit,” said Monroe.
Proctor transfers from Michigan State, where in his sophomore season in 2019 he led the Spartans and ranked 16th in the BIG 10 with nine home runs.
“As soon as I talked to coach Bischel, I mean, I was kind of sold. Just from all the stuff that Mario was saying and then hearing him talk about it. You think of Central Michigan now, you think of a national powerhouse,” said Proctor. “They go to a regional every year and it’s gonna be fun to be a part of that, and hopefully we can take it further this year
The pair join fellow Pit Spitter Mario Camilletti, who is entering his second season with the Chippewas.
Both Monroe and Proctor will enter their final year of college eligibility.
