St. Ignace’s Jackson Ingalls Helps Bring Back U.P. All-Star Games

ST. IGNACE – In 2020, Upper Peninsula All-Star boys and girls basketball games were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, they were close to being canceled again until a recent St. Ignace High School graduate stepped up and organized them.

In June, St. Ignace’s Jackson Ingalls started making calls to get the games played in St. Ignace. Ingalls did not have vested interest in bringing back the game so he could play, but rather so he could referee.

“I felt that we could not cancel it two years in a row, I was disappointed enough that it was canceled last year,” Ingalls said. “So we got everybody together and started making some phone calls and we really just about got all of the top U.P. players.”

The game was played on Saturday as senior all-stars from across the U.P. played for the last time in their high school careers.

As for the competition, the East All-Stars won both the boys and girls games. East defeated West 87-80 on the girls’ side and 103-96 on the boys’ side.
