Three Pit Spitters to Represent TC in Northwoods League All-Star Game

TRAVERSE CITY — Three Traverse City Pit Spitters will represent the team in the Northwoods League All-Star Game in Mankato, Minn. on Tuesday.

Three pitchers made the all-star roster, including Jeremy Neff as the starting pitcher for the Great Lakes Division and relief pitcher John Beuckelaere.

Third year closer Evan Gates was selected, but recently signed with the San Francisco Giants this past Friday.

Meanwhile, Chris Monroe is the only position player representing TC as a first basemen and designated hitter.

“I’m the only position player this year from Traverse City, I think that’s great obviously, you know, makes you feel good about yourself,” said Monroe. “But I also think it’s expected here and I think that’s a testament to the culture we have here.”

He will also participate in the home run derby tonight.

“It’ll be fun to participate in one and hopefully put up some good numbers and you know, maybe win the whole thing and bring a title back here,” said Monroe.

The last NWL All-Star game was in 2019, where three Pit Spitters were also selected.

The Northwoods League All-Star Game begins Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
