Gladwin Football Remains Undefeated, Shut Out Opponents in First Three Games

GLADWIN – The Gladwin football team is off to an impressive start this season with a 4-0 undefeated record, most recently coming off a 58-18 win over Ogemaw Heights last week.

Before that, The Flying G’s shutout their first three opponents and scored a total of 180 points. It was the first time since 2003 the team started the year with three wins.

After a disappointing end to last season losing to Kingsley in the second round of districts, the team said expectations are high and that defensive is the key to their success.

“Our defense has been phenomenal and that’s a big credit to coach Emeott our defensive coordinator and the rest of our defensive position group staff. It’s hard to keep people from scoring any points in multiple games,” said Gladwin head football coach Marc Jarsfter.

“It’s just been a really good season this year. We’ve just been trying to change the culture from where it’s been the past few year in Gladwin to something different now,” said Gladwin senior Andrew Gary. “We’re just trying to win every game as it comes and just every time we play a team we’re giving them 100 percent of everything we’ve got.”

Gladwin is currently tied for first with Clare in the Jack Pine Conference at 3-0 and will see Sanford Meridian in its next matchup on Friday, Sept. 24.
