T.C. Central Advances to District Semis After Arthur Hill Cancels
TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Central announced on Tuesday that its first round matchup against Saginaw Arthur Hill in the Div. 1 district tournament has been canceled, as Arthur Hill doesn’t have enough players available.
The Trojans advance to the district semifinals, which will be held on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. They will host either Traverse City West or Midland, who will play on Wednesday in T.C.
Central, who is coming off a win over Cadillac in its season finale, is ready to play either team, but they hope they can have another shot at playing their crosstown rival next week.
“As postseason begins, it is our mission; it’s our plan to play hard and to do whatever we can to find ways to continue on,” T.C. Central head coach Chris Hale said. “If we have a chance to face them for the a third time, these guys would be more than excited for that opportunity.”
The Titans have won 12 straight Big North titles and seek another trip to the state championship this year, but they have a tough matchup in the first round against Midland, a team they lost to 2-0 in the regular season.
T.C. Central lost to West twice in the regular season, losing the first game, 4-1, and the most recent matchup, 2-1.
“I’ve played them for four years now in districts, so I’ve played them like 12 times,. So we’re just excited to keep playing and I’m excited get more games in,” Central senior Everest Noyes said. “I’d like to keep playing here as long as I can. You know, just keeping that confidence and keeping that momentum.”
Midland will play at T.C. West at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
