BROOKLYN – Benzie Central junior Hunter Jones continued his championship streak as he captured his third straight individual state title at the MHSAA Division 3 cross country state finals at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.
His final time of 15:08.39 is the third-fastest in Division 3 history.
Jones is also just one win away from becoming the first boy to win four outright MHSAA individual championships.
Back in March, as a sophomore, Jones won the adidas Indoor Nationals 5,000-meter championship at Virginia Beach.
That win broke the sophomore record for the fastest time in the nation at high school indoor track meet with his time of 14:49.76.
That time was the fastest in the nation of any high school runner to date in 2021.
