Mel Tucker Signs 10-year, $95 Million Contract With Michigan State

EAST LANSING — Michigan State University announced Wednesday night that head football coach Mel Tucker signed a 10-year contract.

According to the school’s press release, Tucker’s contract is worth $9.5 million per year. That includes a $5.9 million base, $3.2 million in supplemental compensation for media and personal appearances and a $400,000 contingent annual bonus. The contract will expire on Jan. 15, 2032, and it’s pending approval from the Board of Trustees.

 

Tucker is in his second year at MSU. After finishing his first year with two wins, he has led the Spartans to a 9-2 record and No. 12 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings. He has also beaten MSU’s rival, Michigan, in both years.

The Spartans will face Penn State on Saturday at home at 3:30 p.m.
