Sault Ste. Marie’s Audrey Smith Signs with Lansing CC for Softball

SAULT STE. MARIE – Sault Ste. Marie senior Audrey Smith is taking her talents to the next level for softball following her signing with Lansing Community College last week.

Smith earned Straits Area Conference First-Team All-Conference honors last season and was also named the 2021 Sault High Varsity Softball MVP.

In 29 games for the Blue Devils as an outfielder, catcher and third basemen she recorded a .543 batting average with 55 hits, 2 homeruns and 42 RBI.

Smith was also apart of the 18-U Millington Cardinals travel team which finished second at the NSA World Series. In just 15 games with the Cardinals this season she batted .458.

She said she felt right at home when she visited the campus and met her future team.

“They were really nice and talked to us for a little bit, and we asked them questions like what to expect and more about college life and the coaches were all really nice. I think it’ll be a good opportunity,” said Smith.

Smith said she is currently undecided on what to study next year at LCC, but has an intertest in a few different career paths including X-ray tech, social work and psychology.
