Burnham Named Semifinalist For National Defensive Player of the Year

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Central’s Joshua Burnham is in the running for another national award after the Maxwell Football Club named him a semifinalist for the National High School Defensive Player of the Year.

He is one of 16 semifinalists for the award and one of two recognized in the state of Michigan. Burnham helped lead Traverse City Central to the Div. 2 state championship this season in football and he is committed to play football at Notre Dame as a linebacker.

Burnham was also named a high school finalist for the Butkus Award, given to the top linebacker in the country.
