CMU Heads to El Paso, Texas to Face Washington State in Sun Bowl

Following Monday afternoon’s announcement from Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy that Boise State has pulled out of The Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl due to COVID-19 issues, Portnoy announced Monday night that the Central Michigan was released from the Arizona Bowl.

The 8-4 Chippewas will now head to El Paso, Texas to face Washington State (7-5) in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Friday, Dec. 31 at 12 p.m.

The Broncos were set to play Central Michigan on Friday at 2 p.m. (EST) in Tucson, Ariz.

Washington State was reportedly a potential option for CMU to play in the Sun Bowl. Their opponent, Miami (FL), dropped out of that bowl due to COVID-19 issues.

The Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl is the 4th bowl game to be canceled because of COVID-19 issues.
