Benzie Central Boys Basketball Continues Dominant Play, Still Undefeated

BENZONIA – Benzie Central boys basketball is one of the few local programs still undefeated. Before the season began, the team set some ambitious goals and they are still on track to accomplish them as they continue to dominate the competition.

The Huskies currently rank No. 3 in state for Division 3 with an overall record of 8-0 and 5-0 in conference play.

After a big 72-55 win over Buckley last week, Benzie took sole control of first place in the Northwest Conference. But, the team isn’t satisfied just yet.

The Huskies outlines several goals head of the 2021-22 season which included staying unbeaten in the Northwest, capturing a conference championship and making a deep postseason run.

The team has also their sights on making it down to the Breslin Center for their first state finals appearance since 1987.

After setting all of these high expectations, the Huskies said that the sky is the limit and they have every intention of keeping this winning streak going.

“We knew it would be a special bunch, and they they outlined a lot of those goals. They want to win conference, they want to win a district all of those things. And go undefeated as well. Obviously, that’s a higher bar to clear. So we’ve set very high goals for ourselves and so far we’re achieving them,” said Benzie Central head coach Josh Crocker.

“We gel well and still trying to get the chemistry things a little bit. But I think just coming out strong every single time, you know, got off to a slow start. Ad if we can just play every quarter like our best quarter, then game is just going to fly by and it’s going to be fun,” said Benzie senior Quinn Zickert.

Benzie has outscored its opponents this season 561-363 over eight contests.

The Huskies will look to continue their dominate play against Glen Lake (6-3) for another conference matchup on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
