Boyne City’s Kuhn, Gaylord’s Vinecki Make USA Olympic Freestyle Team
The United States Olympic Freestyle Team will feature two northern Michigan athletes, as Boyne City’s Kaila Kuhn and Gaylord’s Winter Vinecki will compete in aerial skiing next month in the Winter Games in Beijing.
They are two of four women to make the team, and this will be their first time competing in the Olympic games.
Kuhn had a successful 2021 season that featured a first place finish in the National Junior Championships at the Utah Olympic Park and a pair of third place finishes in World Cup competitions at Yaroslavl and Deer Valley.
Vinecki also performed well at World Cup competitions in 2021. She had top three finishes at Moscow, Raubichi, Ruka and Deer Valley, including first place in Moscow.
The Mixed Team Aerials will start on Feb. 10. The women’s aerials qualifying will be Feb. 13 with the finals on Feb. 14. The full details on this year’s team can be found on the U.S. and Snowboard website.
