Glen Lake Hands Benzie Central Its First Loss in Boys Hoops

MAPLE CITY — There are now three teams sitting at the top of the Northwest Conference with one loss, as Glen Lake defeated Benzie Central, 64-56, on Tuesday at home in boys basketball. That’s the first loss of the season for the No. 2 Huskies.

Glen Lake had two big runs in the game, starting the night with a 7-0 run and then putting together a 10-0 run in the second quarter. The Lakers held a 33-21 lead at halftime and pushed that to a 13-point lead at the end of the third, 46-33.

The Huskies made it interesting down the stretch, cutting the lead to 57-53 with 1:11 to go, but Glen Lake knocked down its free throws to secure the 8-point win.

Glen Lake, Buckley and Benzie Central are at the top of the Northwest Conference with just one loss conference loss each. Buckley’s loss came against Benzie Central while Glen Lake’s came against Buckley.

Benzie Central will look to bounce back on Thursday at home against Leland. Glen Lake will also next play on Thursday on the road against Suttons Bay.
