Pellston Named a Finalist for NFF National High School Academic Excellence Award

PELLSTON — The Pellston football team was one of eight teams from the state of Michigan and one of 62 teams in the country to be named a finalist for the .

The inaugural award was created in Feb. 2021 and strives to inspire a culture of academic excellence on high school football teams. The 62 finalists were selected by the individual states’ high school coaches associations. Schools must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, superior academic application and performance, and a successful football season.

Pellston was one of eight chosen from Michigan, representing 8-man football. They went 7-3 this past season and making their third straight postseason appearance.

The winner of the award will be announced on Feb. 9.
