T.C. Central Holds Signing Day for Three Student Athletes

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Central celebrated three athletes for signing to play collegiately on Wednesday.

Luke Venhuizen will go to Michigan for cross country and track, while in football, Kadyn Warner will go to Saginaw Valley State and Brett Weaver will attend Grand Valley State.

Venhuizen is one of the most decorated runners in school history, earning All-American honors and three All-State honors in cross country and track. He also broke the school’s record in the 3200-meter run. He’s looking forward to the next challenge.

“I finally get to kind of live a dream. I’m really excited about it. I’m just excited to go to the next level and experience something new. I feel like high school’s been great but I always want to drive to something next,” Venhuizen said.

Warner and Weaver were both offensive linemen for the Trojans, earning all-conference, all-region and all-state honorable mention recognition this past season. They’re excited to head to the same conference.

“It feels amazing, me and my teammate Kadyn out here I mean it feels so good just to have him there beside me and go on to play the second level. And hopefully we get a couple reps against each other,” Weaver said.

“I’m so excited. It’s such a great opportunity and I can’t wait for this next chapter in my life,” Warner said. “Saginaw, I thought was the right decision because the coaching staff and everything, it just fit right for me.”
