Ferris State Edges Wayne State in Semis, Advances to First GLIAC Championship Since 2012

ALLENDALE – Ferris State women’s basketball narrowly defeated Wayne State 62-60 in the GLIAC semifinals on Saturday, sending the Bulldogs to their first tournament championship since 2012 where they’ll face rival No. 2 Grand Valley State.

The Bulldogs trailed by 15 points at halftime, but opened the second half on a 15-0 run to tie the game back up. Ferris State outscored the Warriors 42-25 in the second half.

Ferris will make its fourth overall GLIAC tournament championship appearance and seek its first ever title. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
