Ferris State Releases 2022 Football Schedule

BIG RAPIDS — Ferris State, the defending Div. 2 national champions, released its 2022 football schedule, featuring 10 regular season games.

The Bulldogs will start their season at home against Central Washington on Sept. 1. The Wildcats went 8-3 last season with their final loss taking place in the playoffs against Northwest Missouri State. These two met back in 2019 with Ferris State winning, 62-28.

Ferris State then hits the road on Sept. 10 to face Lenoir-Rhyne, another team that went 8-3 last season. They lost to Bowie State in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs have an open week for Sept. 17 before returning home to face Waldorf in its homecoming game on Sept. 24. The Warriors went 7-3 last year in the NAIA.

Ferris State will have one more non-conference game on Oct. 2 against Findlay, a familiar opponent for the Bulldogs. The Oilers used to belong to the GLIAC and these two have played five straight games since they left. Findlay also appeared in the playoffs last season.

Ferris State will then start conference play at Saginaw Valley State, one of their closest games in 2021, on Oct. 8 before coming back home for a big matchup against rival Grand Valley State on Oct. 15.

The Bulldogs will then have another home game on Oct. 22 against Michigan Tech. Two of their final three games will be on the road against Northern Michigan on Oct. 29 and Wayne State on Nov. 12. They’ll have one home game sandwiched in between those two with Davenport on Nov. 5.

The playoffs will begin on Nov. 19, with the NCAA Championship on Dec. 17 in McKinney, Texas, once again.

Ferris State has won three straight GLIAC titles to go with its first national title last season. They have won 38 straight regular season games.
