Four Traverse City Christian Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

TRAVERSE CITY – Two Traverse City Christian volleyball standouts and two boys basketball standouts signed their national letters of intent on Wednesday afternoon.

The Sabres’ Emma Mirabelli signed to join her sister on the Purdue-Fort Wayne volleyball team.

Julianna Brower will play volleyball at Cornerstone, joining a long list of family members that have attended the university, including her sister, who is currently on the softball team.

Both athletes are excited to join their family members in college athletics.

“There’s so many parts of that that I’m so excited for with Molly,” Mirabelli said.  “The girls are incredible.  The coaches are amazing, and it’s just I think it’s going to be a great fit for everyone.”

“It’s like the big, big dream,” said Brower.  “But, like, then to have it actually happen, and especially with my buddies like this is such a fun time.  My sister did it, and I’m super excited to join her this fall on campus and I’m just so, so grateful for this opportunity.”

Mirabelli and Brower were part of a Sabres team that reached the state quarterfinals in volleyball this past fall.

The Sabres also had two boys basketball standouts sign to play collegiately — Brock Broderick and Ryan Sweetapple.

Broderick signed with Calvin University and Sweetapple signed with Rochester.

Both players had great success with the Sabres, including Broderick being named First Team All-State this season.

“It’s like pretty close to home there,” Broderick said of Calvin. “The facilities and stuff are really, really cool. It’s a really big arena for a Division 3 school and it’s a Christian school.”

“They’ve shown tremendous support and they also really looked like they wanted me,” Sweetapple said of Rochester. “Not just like, we’ll keep you on the radar, but we want you to come here. We want you to participate in this program. And it’s just an opportunity too big to give up.”
