Lions Select Michigan’s Hutchinson With No. 2 Overall Pick

The Detroit Lions selected Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2 overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Plymouth, Michigan, native ended his college career with one of the best seasons in program history by a pass rusher. He was the Heisman Trophy runner-up, becoming just the third defensive player to finish second in the history of the award. He was also an All-American after finishing the season with 62 tackles and 16.5 tackles for loss. He also set the program-record with 14 sacks last season.

He measured at 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds during the NFL combine, running a 4.74 40-yard dash with a 36-inch vertical jump.

Jacksonville drafted Georgia defensive end Travon Walker with the No. 1 overall pick.
