Northwood Sweeps Ferris State Behind Steimel’s Big Day

BIG RAPIDS — Traverse City West alum Brittany Steimel had a home run and five RBI in two games to help boost Northwood to a pair of wins over Ferris State in softball, 5-2 and 11-2, on Wednesday.

Steimel started the day by going 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks. She tied the game with both of the runs she drove in in the first game. She followed up that performance by going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the second game to lead Northwood to the sweep over the Bulldogs.

Big Rapids alum Josie Prince had a solid day for the Bulldogs, recording an RBI in both games.

Ferris State will look to bounce back on Thursday with a doubleheader against Grand Valley State starting at 3:30 p.m. MiSportsNow will have a live stream of both games.
