Soaring Eagle Casino Officially Opens New Ascend Sportsbook
MOUNT PLEASNT – Just over two years after sports betting became legal in Michigan, Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant held a grand opening for its new Ascend Sportsbook which officially opened on Monday.
In addition to the sportsbook, Soaring Eagle is also planning on launching a Soaring Eagle Casino Sports mobile platform coming later this spring.
The grand opening comes just in time for the NCAA men’s basketball championship between Kansas and UNC on Monday night.
Also present at the sportsbook’s unveiling were members of the 2000 Michigan State men’s basketball national championship team.
Former MSU standouts and members of the famed “Flintstones”, Morris Peterson, Charlie Bell and Antonio Smith were on hand to greet fans and sign autographs at the opening.
They said they loved the opportunity to enjoy the final four with fans.
“Playing in three of them, and winning a National Championship, it’s definitely a great time of the year. And to come watch it on the big screen here at Soaring Eagle, man, it’s exciting,” said Bell.
“Aw man, it’s like Christmas all over again for me. You know, when they open those doors, I was like “yeah!” See the big screens, the bright lights, the good music, people having fun, enjoying themselves, most definitely insane,” said Smith.
“You know, I talked to my Dad earlier, and he was pulling for Kansas. So, he told me to put my money on Kansas, but I don’t know. Something’s telling me that North Carolina is going to be ready to play, so if I had to put my money on somebody, I’d say North Carolina,” said Peterson.
