Central Michigan Women’s Lacrosse Wins MAC Tournament Championship
MT. PLEASANT – The Central Michigan women’s lacrosse team won the MAC Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 20-10 win over Robert Morris.
This is the first year the MAC has held a conference tournament for women’s lacrosse. Last season was the first year the conference sponsored the sport. Robert Morris won the league title last season but there was no tournament.
The Chippewas and Colonials were tied 7-7 at halftime but Central Michigan outscored Robert Morris 8-1 in the third quarter to take control.
Kendall Hoyt, Kelly Hoyt and Brennan Paddy all had five goals each for the Chippewas. Maggie Diebold added four goals and Courtney Burke had one.
With the win, Central Michigan clinches a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s seven-year history.
