Ferris State Sweeps Regular Season Finale Against Wisconsin-Parkside

BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State softball closed out the regular season with two wins over Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday afternoon, winning the first game 10-1 in five innings and the second game 11-5.

In the first game, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. A walk-off three-run home run by Paige Kortz ended the game via the run rule in the fifth.

Kortz was 3-for-3 in the game with a walk, three runs scored and three RBI.

Ferris State picked up right where it left off in game two, racing out to a 9-3 lead after two innings.

Kaitlyn Orme was 2-for-4 in the second game for the Bulldogs, driving in two runs and scoring twice herself.

Ferris State ends the regular season with an 18-31 record, 9-17 in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs have won six of their last eight games.

With the wins Sunday, they secured the No. 6 seed at the GLIAC Tournament in Sandusky, Ohio on May 6.
