MISportsNow Top Plays: Week of 5/16-5/22

Playoffs for spring sports are already underway in track and field and in girls tennis.

In the week ahead, districts will start for girls soccer as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the top plays from the past week with conference titles and more on the line.

5. Big Rapids’ Katie Williams takes a nice touch around the defender and scores as part of a 9-1 win for the Cardinals over Fremont.

4. Brimley has a runner in scoring position but Pickford’s Eli MacDonald makes a diving catch in foul territory to end the inning. Pickford swept the doubleheader with the Bays.

3. Ludington’s Lilli Goodrich comes diving out of the circle to make the grab and end the inning. Ludington swept the doubleheader with rival Manistee on Thursday night.

2. In the CSAA Championship game, Big Rapids’ Kyra Couch places a shot beautifully into the top corner of the net. It would prove to be the only goal as the Cardinals claimed the conference crown with a 1-0 win over Newaygo.

1. Gaylord’s Alexis Shepherd makes a diving stop at second base and throws from her knees to get the out at first. Gaylord swept the doubleheader with Traverse City Central to clinch the Big North Conference championship.
