Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Baseball Coach Earl Hartman Reaches 800 Career Wins

MT. PLEASANT – Sacred Heart baseball coach Earl Hartman reached an impressive milestone this season when he won his 800th career game as a head coach.

Hartman started the season nine wins shy of the mark. He ranks in the top 10 all-time in career wins in MHSAA baseball history.

Hartman said the win total is a reflection of the students that played for him and he wants to keep coaching as long as he can.

“I always said that my catcher from the 1987 team, Charles Lux, [now known from] Charles R. Lux Funeral Home, was going to announce my retirement on page two of the Morning Sun in the obituary column,” Hartman joked. “As long as I can get through to the kids and we can be successful then I’m happy.”

The field at Sacred Heart bears Coach Hartman’s name.

Hartman is one of four active head coaches to reach 800 career wins.
