St. Ignace Alum, Former CMU DB Gage Kreski Invited to New York Giants Rookie Camp

MOUNT PLEASANT – St. Ignace alum and former Central Michigan University defensive back, Gage Kreski, will get a chance to pursue his dreams of playing in the NFL after recieving an invite to the New York Giants rookie camp.

Kreski had an impressive redshirt, fifth-year season at CMU. A 6-foot-1, 210 pound safety, Kreski led the Chippewas in total tackles with 50 solo and 31 assisted stops in 13 games this past season.

Kreski said he is grateful to have a shot at playing at the professional level.

“I’ve dreamed about it for a long time, and it’s great that it’s here and I’m super excited for it. I’m used to starting from the bottom. I came into to college as a walk on and obviously coming from the U.P., that culture is just, just wonderful and just backed me so much. And I appreciate everyone that’s reached out to me and has helped me get to where I am today,” said Kreski.

Kreski ran a 3.9 second time in the shuttle run and a 4.69-second 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. His shuttle run time would have been the fastest at the NFL Combine had he been invited.

Kreski joins fellow Chippewas Kalil Pimpleton, Troy Hairston and Dishon McNary as players were not selected during the 2022 NFL Draft, but later signed as undrafted free-agents. Bernhard Raimann and Like Goedke were the only two from CMU to be taken in the draft.

A three-time all-state selection while at St. Ignace High School, Kreski joined the CMU football team as a preferred walk-on in 2016.

He then spent the next five seasons working his way up the depth chart, landing a spot on the scout team, then special teams and eventually as starting strong safety for the Chippewas.

The Giants rookie camp is scheduled for May 13-15.
