TC Pit Spitters Back in Town for First Practice Ahead of Monday’s Season Opener

TRAVERSE CITY – The start of the 2022 Northwoods League baseball season is just two days away and the Traverse City Pit Spitters returned to town for their first team practice on Friday ahead of Monday’s season opener.

Traverse City will look to defend its back-to-back league title in pursuit of a third straight NWL crown.

As fans await yet another summer full of fun at Turtle Creek Stadium, no one is more excited than field manager Josh Rebandt and his players.

“Starting on the road I think is great for us. It enables the guys to be around each other 24/7. And then opening up on a Friday night in Traverse City. You can’t ask for a better Friday night after a championship run last year. The community buzz, the player buzz. I’m really excited for next Friday night,” said Rebandt.

“They have a big winning culture here, so I think everybody’s really excited to come back and play and have the chance to win another ring. Always good to be on a winning team. Nobody likes losing. So it’s just a privilege to be back up here,” said Pit Spitters outfielder Trey Truitt III.

The Pit Spitters open the 2022 season on the road against the Battle Creek Battle Jacks on Monday, May 30 at 6:35 p.m.

The team returns to Turtle Creek Stadium to host the Battle Jacks in the home opener on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
