Traverse City St. Francis’ Wilmoth, Schichtel Sign Letters of Intent

TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City St. Francis seniors Gavin Wilmoth and Stephanie Schichtel signed their national letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college next fall.

Wilmoth, who won a state title for the Gladiators in wrestling in the 152-pound weight class, will take his talents to Clarion next year.

Schichtel will go to Calvin University next year to play softball.

The pair say they are ready to continue chasing their goals and dreams at the next level.

“Being able to play in college is truly amazing. And then it will keep me with that structure throughout school so I can have a schedule and have a pattern and I’m really excited about that,” said Schichtel.

“Since seventh grade, I made the two goals I want to be a two-time state champ and wrestle in college. And I almost (did it). I was one-time state champ, but I did achieve the wrestling-in-college goal and my plans are All-American,” said Wilmoth.
