Elk Rapids Girls Soccer Stuns Grand Rapids CC 2-1 for Program’s First Ever Regional Title

BIG RAPIDS – Elk Rapids girls soccer took down Grand Rapids Catholic Central 2-1 in a thrilling Div. 3 regional finals on Thursday night to clinch the first regional title in program history, sending the Elks to the state semifinals.

The Elks notched the opening goal of a penalty kick from Kendall Standfest to put them up 1-0. They added in another with time winding down in the first half of a great effort from Lauren Bingham, getting the ball to roll in as she is knocked to the ground.

The Cougars add a goal in the second half, but the Elks held them to that lone goal to secure the victory.

Elk Rapids will now face Hudsonville Unity Christian in the state semifinal on Wednesday in Cedar Springs.
