Pit Spitters Pick Up Third Straight Win Over Jackrabbits

TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Pit Spitters beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits 5-1 Sunday night. It was the Pit Spitters third straight victory with all three coming against Kokomo.

The Pit Spitters swept a two-game series in Kokomo before returning to Turtle Creek Stadium to start another two-game set with the Jackrabbits.

Brennen Dorighi got the scoring started for Traverse City on Sunday night with a two-run triple in the fourth inning.

Morgan Lunceford threw six scoreless innings for the Pit Spitters, scattering six hits, striking out four and earning the victory.

The Jackrabbits only run of the game came on an RBI triple by Alejandro Holguin in the eighth inning.

The Pit Spitters are 22-19 overall this season. In the Northwoods League, the division leader after each half of the season earns a playoff spot.  It’s early, but the Pit Spitters are in first place in the Great Lakes East second half standings at 4-1.
