University of Michigan Football Team Visits Northern Michigan
The University of Michigan football team spent Sunday in northern Michigan for some team bonding and to give back to the community.
The football players, coaches, and staff are taking a tour of the state this offseason. They came to northern Michigan Sunday, starting with a trip to Mac Wood’s Dune Rides at Silver Lake.
“The more time you’re able to spend with your teammates and create a brotherhood, you’re going to need that when you need to rely on someone in a tough situation on the field,” said Michigan defensive end Taylor Upshaw.
From the dunes, the team headed to Idlewild where they learned about the community’s history over lunch. The team then contributed to service projects to help revitalization efforts in Idlewild.
“I’m glad to see that we’re able to help them restore it a little bit,” said Michigan offensive lineman Trente Jones. “People have been venturing off a little bit from Idlewild. But all in all it’s a nice story, it’s rich and all the people here are very impactful so it’s nice to be able to give back.”
