Tigers Select Texas Tech 2B Jace Jung With 12th Overall Pick in MLB Draft

The Detroit Tigers selected Texas Tech second baseman Jace Jung with the 12th overall pick in the MLB First-Year Player Draft on Sunday night.

Jung, originally from San Antonio, TX, was the Big 12 Player of the year as a second-year freshman in 2021.

As a sophomore in 2022, Jung hit .335 with 14 home runs and 57 RBI and was First Team All-Big 12 once again.

He is the brother of Josh Jung, who is currently rated as the No. 30 prospect in baseball by MLB.com and plays in the Texas Rangers organization. Josh Jung also won Big 12 Player of the Year at Texas Tech in 2019.
