TC Elite Cheer Team Wins National Title

MYRTLE BEACH — The level five and six TC Elite Cheer team headed to Myrtle Beach two weeks ago and came back to Traverse City with the national title.

The team, made up of eight to 18 year-olds, spent multiple days in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the NYAA Nationals. The group executed perfect routines the two days of competition, giving them the number one spot.

“The first day, we were in first place,” said TC Cheerleader Adalee Butrick. “The second day we did really good again so we just knew we were in first place.”

The team won the national title after spending four years at nationals and only ranking as high as second place.

A majority of the cheerleaders will be coming back to the team with hopes of winning another national title. One of them, Julie Roland, reflected on her journey with TC Elite Cheer and will be coaching the next group of cheerleaders.

“For four years we worked for the title,” said Roland. “It was all worth it [the] literal blood, sweat and tears.
