Trojans Come Out on Top in Thriller Against the Blue Devils

GAYLORD — The Traverse City Central Trojans won a wild game to even their record in Big North Conference play, defeating Gaylord 5-3 on Tuesday night.

Central took a 2-0 halftime lead on a pair of goals off of corner kicks scored by Ethan Gerber and Koen Burkholder.

Gaylord responded early in the second half, rattling off 3 goals in the span of eight minutes.  Charles Holscher netted two of the goals, and assisted on the other goal by Hector Gea Lozano.

Roughly six minutes after Gaylord took the lead with their outburst, Central tied things up when a crossing pass by Asher Paul deflected off of a Gaylord defender and into the net.  Central then took the lead when an attempt Blue Devil clearing attempt in the box deflected off of Gerber and into the net.

Burkholder added a late insurance goal to reach the final margin.

Both teams will return to action on Thursday night.  Traverse City Central (2-5-1, 1-1 BNC) hosts crosstown rival Traverse City West, while the Blue Devils (7-4-1, 1-1 BNC) will travel to Alpena.
